Mark Bailey

Mark seeks to help you grow your business sustainably with solutions that are value for money while planning for the future. His deep knowledge of plants, environmental sustainability and innovation in the clean growth sector will be of major benefit to local businesses.
He has a PhD in plant biology undertaking research in universities at Warwick, Durham and Birmingham, and more recently at the agricultural science institute Rothamsted Research. Over 12 years in academia, Mark has developed an analytical mindset and affinity for innovation, always keen to support a good idea to reach its full potential through collaboration or a strategic grant bid.
Mark made the switch to the public sector in 2023, joining Norfolk County Council’s procurement team to help maximise the value gained from public money spent on services by promoting sustainability and social value through contracts. He joins the Growth Hub as our clean growth business adviser, bringing his experiences from the public and academic sectors to support local businesses to improve their environmental sustainability, capitalise on the green sector and foster resilience to a changing climate.
