The project brings together Diss Town Council, Diss Heritage Trust, local traders and shopkeepers in a shared effort to make the town even more welcoming, vibrant and full of character.

Background
Diss has enthusiastically embraced Norfolk County Council’s Love Your Market Town initiative which supports projects that celebrate our market towns, engage communities, increase footfall and raise awareness of our High Streets.
The project includes:
- Installing shop jackets on empty shops – this involves developing new artwork and using historic photographs of Diss.
- Installing ‘blue plaques’ on trading shops – This could be expanded if traders contribute to the cost.
- Improving street cleaning, including doorways.
- Cleaning empty shopfronts.
- Refurbishing and replanting planters.
- Providing additional flags for a permanent display.

Project delivery
In July (2026), we filmed in Diss to see the improvements and changes as part of the ongoing revitalisation in the heart of the town.
It’s been wonderful to see how the Love Your Market Town grant fhas helped make the improvements happen, to ‘meet’ Dinsdale Duck and speak with shop owners. Special thanks to Diss Heritage Trust member Ray Bryant who showed us round the town.
