Supply Chain Opportunities!

The Sizewell C Supply Chain Engagement event this week gave a clear insight into what’s involved, along with practical tools to help businesses meet the required common assessment standards.

Our business advisers, Robert Turnbull, James Moore, Thomas Undrill and Jamie Bird took part and met with several businesses. Here is an overview and key points from them.

It brought together SMEs and stakeholders keen to understand routes to market and how to become procurement ready. It was clear that you don’t need to be a main contractor to benefit and that there are real opportunities across the whole supply chain. Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, working closely with partners, delivered a series of workshops covering everything businesses need to know. This helped make the process more accessible, especially for those who have not tendered before and may find it daunting.

As part of this, the Growth Hub team highlighted the support and funding available through New Anglia Growth Hub across both counties.

It was great to see how partners worked on improving the procurement journey, which was shaped directly by business feedback, and reinforced the value of early engagement, compliance and collaboration across the supply chain.

It was a valuable opportunity to connect with businesses at different stages of growth, highlighting the wrap around support, including high growth programmes, workshops and grant funding.

We encourage firms to take proactive steps towards future opportunities.

Key takeaways for businesses:

  • Engage early and stay visible within the Sizewell C supply chain
  • Make use of available business support to build capacity and readiness
  • Ensure cyber security, standards and compliance are in place
  • Prepare early for bidding and procurement requirements
  • Our message is clear: register early, stay engaged, leverage the support on offer, and put the right foundations in place to maximise long term opportunities.

AND one key area businesses need to demonstrate is clean delivery and environmental management.

It was clear that the Growth Hub’s clean growth support can play an important role in helping businesses meet these expectations. Get the ball rolling and get in touch with us.
