Media Training (Press, Radio and TV) – How to Manage Media for Your Business
A full day workshop to help participants define their message and maximise the chance of achieving positive publicity in the press, on radio and television. The course is suitable for business owners, managers or employees who are, or may be, required to undertake press and media interviews.

Course Objectives
At the end of the sessions each participant will:
• Have increased awareness of the opportunities for publicity in the press, on radio and TV
• Know who to approach at press and media outlets
• Know how to approach press and media outlets
• Be able to identify what makes a good PR opportunity
• Be able to plan for a press or media interview
• Have had the opportunity to record radio and TV interviews with a journalist and receive feedback
• Know how to plan for, and react to, negative publicity.

Workshop Evaluation

Participants will each receive a pack of specially written course support material and copies of their radio interviews as MP3 files.

• Radio interview on your company or work, with feedback (recorded)
• Coping with negative publicity

13:00-13:45 Lunch Break – There is a cafe in The Mix where you can buy lunch or please do bring your own.

Workshop Facilitator/Trainer – (www.rachelsloane.co.uk)
Rachel Sloane is an award-winning broadcaster in both commercial radio and BBC local radio, who produces corporate and training videos and writes features and reviews for magazines, newspapers and websites.

A qualified trainer (City and Guilds 730 – Further Education Teachers Certificate) she has over thirty-five years’ experience of training adults through the lively, challenging but enjoyable, practical workshops.

She is the author of the training e-book “The Useful Guide to Handling the Press and Media” (publisher: The Business Learning Foundation). Rachel has an established profile as an after-dinner and conference speaker, and as a cruise ship lecturer. She gives ongoing publicity support to the High Sheriff of Suffolk, Suffolk Community Foundation and the Suffolk Historic Churches Trust.

David Webb is a freelance filmmaker of documentaries, training films and news items, with experience at BBC, ITFC, and others.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Stowmarket is on the main train line that runs from Norwich to London. The walk to The mix from the train station is approximately half a mile and about 10 minutes.

The nearest car park is across the road by the Regent Theatre at Stowmarket IP14 1AY. Please bring the relevant payment method with you.

I want to book for more than one person from my company?

Due to the popularity of these events we are only able to allow one person per company to attend. However, please email naghmarketing@newanglia.co.uk, if you wish a colleague to attend as well and if we have cancellations we will notify you immediately on a first come, first served basis to offer another ticket.

What will be done with the information I supply?

Your information will be stored on eventbrite according to eventbrites terms and conditions. Upon arrival you will be required to sign in on our attendance sheet, this is to provide evidence of your attendance and will be kept on server as evidence for our ERDF funding. After your attendance will be stored on the secure Growth Hub CRM system. This is required in order to provide evidence of your attendance and eligibility for the course. This will be kept to the statutory dates any only accessible to Growth Programme and authorised personnel. If you request further contact from an adviser post this event they will use this information to contact you and log any future interactions, again to evidence for ERDF funding.

Your information will not be given to any third parties without your permission.

Any paperwork completed by you for the course activities are yours to keep unless you wish the trainer or the Growth Hub to hold these for you, for which we will ask you to sign.
