Vanilla Electronics, based in Thetford, provide end-to-end supply chain and manufacturing services. These include customised design, component supply, kitting, box build manufacturing and 3rd party logistics solutions to a demanding customer-base of businesses large and small. Established in 2002 as an electronics component distributor, the business has grown significantly, leading to a vast expansion in the services they offer. Their growing list of clients now includes large multi-national companies.

In order to further expand this already high growth business, they looked at ways of boosting efficiency. This led them to look into improving ways of managing stock through automation and investment in new technologies. After much research, the business discovered fully-automated lean lifts that would provide enhanced efficiency by allowing staff to step away from time-consuming manual stock picking from their warehouse of over 35,000 components.

Managing Director, Dan Croft, contacted the New Anglia Growth Hub to see if help and support might be available as Vanilla Electronics sought to implement these changes. Dan was put in touch with Business Growth Adviser Chris Sharman, who after discussing their business goals, identified that the Growth Hub would be able to help facilitate a grant from the Growing Business Fund for the cost of machines they required to continue their success story.
