Company:HemisphereSecured £92,000 grant Created 10 new jobs
Better transport links, increased capacity and grant incentives have been the driving factors in helping a freight forwarding company relocate from Colchester to Ipswich.
Hemisphere Freight Services Limited, established since 1989, specialises in co-ordination and transport of manufactured products for a UK and international client base, as well as the movement of large scale or abnormal loads requiring specific handling. The company has been successful in securing grant funding of £92,000 from the New Anglia LEP’s Growing Business Fund, which will help to create over 10 new jobs.
After the company reached capacity at their former premises in Colchester, they took the strategic decision to purchase a 110,000 square foot site at Whitehouse Industrial Estate, Ipswich; believed to be the largest single square foot purchase in Ipswich over the last 10 years according to Savills. The new location has the added benefit of being located within close proximity to the A14 corridor and the Port of Felixstowe.
Managing Director, Andy Perrin comments: “After 25 years in business, we successfully applied for our first ever grant to help our business expand. Not often these days do I find myself flabbergasted, but this is one of those moments and it’s not the amount in question, but the principal of gaining support. This is very much thanks to the guidance and input of the Growth Hub, for which I am extremely grateful.”
Kurt Scheepers, Business Adviser from the New Anglia Growth Hub, who assisted the firm access the grant, added: “This is a great example of a growing company investing in Suffolk. The grant has enabled their relocation, leading to net job creation whilst safeguarding existing jobs. It was a pleasure to assist Andy in understanding the eligibility criteria and putting through a successful grant application.”
